The ETL design lead guides and mentors the ETL Developers and is responsible for documentation, quality and management of ETL processes.

Responsibilities

Technical Accountabilities

  • Ensure high quality ETL development work via standards, guidelines, quality assurance reviews and testing.
  • Estimate the time and resource requirements of ETL development work.
  • Follow the progress of ETL development and how it meets estimate and actual timelines.
  • Raise critical technical issues to vendors or key stakeholders in a timely manner where they would impact on the project timeline.

Capability Development Responsibilities

  • Mentor, train and develop less experienced ETL Developers.
  • Define and deliver consistent ETL standards, methodologies, guidelines & techniques.
  • Ensure compliance to standards through code walkthroughs and metadata reports.

Capabilities

Knowledge

  • Expert knowledge of the ETL technology in use on the project.
  • Understands the range of options and best practices for common ETL design techniques such as change data capture, key generation and optimisation.
  • Significant experience with data quality, data profiling, metadata management and reporting.

Technology Skills

  • Expertise and experience in the ETL development tool.
  • Moderate knowledge of at least one database tool.
  • Keep up to date on the upgrade options, enhancements, add-ons and features in the ETL tool with a view to improving the productivity of the project.

Work Experience

  • 3+ years experience with ETL tools or ETL programming.
  • 5-10 years experience with IT projects and information development.
  • Experience with the ETL product being used.
