Enabling Technologies provide advanced capabilities to implement next-generation capabilities along the technology backplane of infrastructure and data. Enabling Technologies include a number of new technologies and are implemented through best practices in Information Management (Information Development).

Implementing a Services Oriented Architecture that is focused on Enterprise Information Integration as well as Enterprise Application Integration requires Enabling Technologies. Enabling Technologies supplement a Services Oriented Architecture by facilitating complex data mediation scenarios, providing active and shared metadata, modelling data in motion and enabling optimisation of business processes and the SOA environment.
