Deliverable templates are illustrative as opposed to fully representative. Please help add examples to this template that are representative of the proposed output.

The High Level Current-State Information Processes documents the key information management processes across the business through interviews and review of artifacts. The focus is on Level 1 and Level 2 processes. During this process, special note should be made to capture activities that lead to poor information quality, time delays, increased risk and poor customer or self service.

Starting with a business problem / domain, specific avenues of interview may begin with the source system owner, continuing through each stage of the information process flow, the interviews would end at the end of the information cycle at one of three possible business uses of information:

  • Business Intelligence reporting
  • Business calculation (and archival)
  • Physical medium production

Some sample domains that may be used during the interview include:

  • Number / types of source systems
  • Data extraction method
  • Number of ETL stages
  • Purpose and complexity of each ETL stage
  • ETL frequency at each stage
  • Type of business rules applied
  • Final use of information
