Key Data Elements

From MIKE2 Methodology

Jump to: navigation, search

Key Data Elements (KDEs) are the most important data elements in an organisation. Quality issues with these elements could have major business impacts; Governance initiatives should prioritise addressing any issues with KDEs.

Value of KDEs is based on:

  • Business Impact of quality issues
  • Number of instances across the organisation
  • Dependency of other elements on this data element

Master data, reference data and transactional data may all be defined as Key Data Elements.
