From MIKE2 Methodology
These are areas where the current MIKE2 contents that are uploaded in the wiki may be inconsistent with the approach recommended in the Manual of Style. This section provides a set of working notes of potential changes to be made.
Article titles
- Article titles are not always consistent with the approach defined in the Manual of Style
Headings
Look for Capatilization inconsistencies. Should be in Title Case, first word and proper nouns are capitals.
Capatilization
Arguably, the MIKE2 content is currently over-capitalized. Examples include:
- Roles (e.g. Data Steward)
- Technology terms (e.g. Data Quality)
- MIKE2 terms (e.g. Supporting Assets
There are also areas of inconsistency. Should look for inconsistencies, especially with technology terms
Quotation
British style single quotes are used in many places. They may be changed to be American-style double quotes.
Contractions
There are a number of areas where contractions are used across MIKE2. To make these writing style more formal, these contractions should be removed, e.g. don't becomes do not.
Slashes
There are a few areas where slashes are used in MIKE2. These should be changed to remove ambiguity.
Usage and spelling
Latinate Terms
Latinate terms such as e.g. (exampla gratia) and i.e. (id est) are used in MIKE2. These should revised.
Images
- Check alignment, icons should be left-aligned
- Images should be captioned
- Consistent approach needed with thumbnails
- Images should better described and license terms added
Wikilinking
- Linking should only be done when relevant, there is overlinking of some areas which should be - replaced with bold'
MIKE2.0 Name
MIKE2.0 was initially referred to as MIKE2, there are inconsistencies throughout the content in the use of MIKE2.0 vs. MIKE2. This will be revised over time and users should note that MIKE2.0 is the same methodology as MIKE2.
