Metadata Reporting Applications

Metadata Reporting involves the delivery of metadata to information consumers and developers in a form that is consistent and effective for their specific end use. Unlike Metadata Management Packages, Reporting Packages do not allow the modification of master metadata, but can allow creation of governance information such as annotations and change requests. Metadata Reporting can take either GUI or non-GUI form depending on the required presentation format. Metadata Reporting requirements are key business drivers for the Information Development.

Composite Applications

Composite Applications

Composite Applications are reporting packages that are built using advanced Metadata Services. Composite Applications can span vendor and purpose built metadata applications and repositories to provide a single point of entry to metadata using portal, dashboard and other user interface techniques.

Vendor Tools

Vendor Tools

Vendor Tools that provide metadata reporting capabilities may be sufficient for some end user requirements. Vendor supplied interfaces are complimentary to the overall metadata reporting capability and can be integrated with the use of Composite Applications and Metadata Services.

Traditional Reporting Tools

Traditional Reporting Tools

Traditional Reporting Tools can be used to access metadata to present standard and ad hoc reports to end users. Advanced capabilities in Metadata Services can provide metadata access services using interfaces required by Traditional Reporting tools or shared metadata repositories.
