This is a Concept Article which is used to describe a key Information Management concept. The purpose of this article is to provide a general definition of this concept.

OLTP (Online transaction processing) are systems used to store persistent, transaction-oriented events. Many business transactions are supported by OLTP-based systems, which should provide a high degree of data integrity, performance and security. Enterprise Applications are examples of OLTP applications.
