Overall Implementation Guide

From MIKE2 Methodology

Jump to: navigation, search

The Overall Implementation Guide is part of a series of documents that make up the core MIKE2.0 Methodology. The core documents are shown in the model below.

As the development of the methodology is a continuous process, MIKE2.0 has been constructed in a fashion so that functionality can be added underneath the Overall Implementation Guide and governing Architecture, which are now largely complete.

There are 5 key aspects which would be considered to make up the Overall Implementation Guide.

  • The Executive Summary provides an introduction to the subject matter for the Senior Executive. It presents some of the key problems facing organisations today, as a lead-in for BearingPoint’s recommended approach to Enterprise Information Management.
  • Overview and Key Concepts initiates the reader to the model that is used throughout the document to govern our scope for Enterprise Information Management.
  • The section on Rationale provides some of the journey in developing the MIKE2.0 approach, helping to describe why the solution was created and a bit of the history on how it took its current form.
  • The SAFE Architecture Conceptual Overview provides an overview of all the components of the Enterprise Information Management architecture framework. This section should be read by anyone that wants to understand the overall architecture for Enterprise Information Management from either a functional or technical perspective.
  • The Overall Task List provides the overall set of Phases, Activities and Tasks for MIKE2.0; the Usage Model provides some guidance on how these tasks are applied to different types of projects.

Users of the MIKE2.0 Methodology should always start with this Overall Implementation Guide and the Usage Model before using any of the more detailed assets when undertaking a project.
