RFP Concept

From MIKE2 Methodology

Jump to: navigation, search
This is a Concept Article which is used to describe a key Information Management concept. The purpose of this article is to provide a general definition of this concept.

An RFP (Request for Proposal) invites potential suppliers to respond to a specific piece of work. Many Information Management projects start with an RFP or a variation, such as an RFI (Request for Information) or RFT (Request for Tender).

An RFP may be quite open or well-defined in its scope. It will typically test the knowledge of the respondent in areas such as:

  • Knowledge of the overall subject area
  • Capability of the team and their experience
  • Past experience with similar engagements
  • Knowledge of the client environment

The RFP process varies significantly across organisations and across industries.
