An RFP (Request for Proposal) invites potential suppliers to respond to a specific piece of work. Many Information Management projects start with an RFP or a variation, such as an RFI (Request for Information) or RFT (Request for Tender).
An RFP may be quite open or well-defined in its scope. It will typically test the knowledge of the respondent in areas such as:
- Knowledge of the overall subject area
- Capability of the team and their experience
- Past experience with similar engagements
- Knowledge of the client environment
The RFP process varies significantly across organisations and across industries.
