The MIKE2.0 Methodology was initially created by a team from BearingPoint, a leading Management and Technology Consultancy.

The project started as MIKE2 (Method for an Integrated Knowledge Environment) which was the development of an approach for Enterprise Information Management. The MIKE2 initiative was started in early 2005 and the methodology was brought through a number of release cycles until it reached a mature state in late 2005. MIKE2.0 involved taking this approach and making it open source and more collaborative. Much of the content of the MIKE2.0 Methodology was made available to the Open Source community in late December 2006. When the IM Solution Suite project started in 2007, BearingPoint defined the suite architecture with MIKE2.0 as the open source “face” of the suite. Since then, the content has continued to evolve and the collaborative framework has become more sophisticated.

At this stage, the MIKE2.0 contributor base includes a number of indivduals, from BearingPoint and from external community. The Data Governance and Management Consortium (DGMC) is being formulated to take ownership of MIKE2.0 and to lead the extension of any aspects of the methodology.

MIKE2.0 Leadership Team

The leadership team for MIKE2.0 consists of the founding members of the Data Governance and Management Consortium:

  • Ed Hagan is BearingPoint's Global Solution Leader for Information Management. He helps set the vision for the overall Information Management Solution Suite, of which the open source aspect is MIKE2.0.

Data Governance and Management Consortium

BearingPoint is currently in the process of handing MIKE2.0 over to the Data Governance and Management Consortium (DGMC). The DGMC represents industry, software vendors, systems integrators and independent technology experts and analysts that will govern the MIKE2.0 Methodology. The initial team is still being formulated, as well as its roles, responsibilities and operating model.
