A training profile should be prepared for all staff as they come into an organisation. Information Management staff training should include comprehensive introduction that provides:

Awareness Training

  • Overview on general industry trends
  • An explanation of the issues related to managing information
  • Business context for their information management issues

Role Based Training

  • Technology-based training
  • An introduction to an organisation's methods and best practices
  • Definition of their role related to Information Governance
  • A review of issues and challenges in the current environment
  • A review of project specifics related to information management

MIKE2.0 Training

Training on the use of the MIKE2.0 Methodology should cover:


Introductory training can generally be covered in 2 - 4 days. A "train the trainer" model is typically employed for large organisations.
